Hubspot has raised its profile in marketing automation, social media campaign management, and now it focuses on customer relationship management (CRM). Hence, it helps companies to attract visitors, convert to leads, and also helps to retain them as customers. Messagebird is an official API provider which unifies different communication platforms in one place making business plan communicate with clients easily. Pre-requisites for app installation

  • Should have Hubspot account

  • Should have Messagebird account

  • Should have created channels in Messagebird before proceeding to use the extension (Example: SMS channel, Instagram channel etc..)

Points to remember

  • For using the WhatsApp channel, you have to register your WhatsApp number for approval by following the steps given at the below link:

  • Apart from the subscription fee, you have to pay cost per conversation for the message you send through MessageBird which varies from country to country you can check that at the below link:

  • There are two kinds of messages one is the Template message and another one is the Session message.


  • The Template messages will be used to initiate conversations, the template messages should be get approved beforehand from MessageBird.


  • The Session Messages are normal conversations that are done within 24 hours after the customers reply to your Template message.


  • Once the WhatsApp number you registered for WhatsApp API is got approved, the same number can't be used on your mobile phone WhatsApp application or you can't revert that number to a normal WhatsApp number.


  • And you can use that official WhatsApp API number through the MessageBird Application only.

Application Installation

Step 1: Go to Hubspot Marketplace and search for the application "Messagebird Sync by Ulgebra". Click "Install App" to install the application in the Hubspot CRM.

Step 2: You will be re-directed to the extension settings page. Authorize your Hubspot CRM and Messagebird account by clicking the "Authorize Now" option.

Step 3: Choose your Hubspot account by selecting the check box and then click "Choose Account".

Step 4: Now, a set of app accessing request will be displayed. Kindly go through the same and accept it by clicking the "Connect App" option.

Step 5: Select the check box displayed as "I'm not a robot".

Step 6: Now, you can view that your Hubspot account is authorized successfully. For authorizing your Messagebird account, enter your Messagebird API key which you will be getting from your Messagebird dashboard.

Step 7: Copy the live Messagebird API key and paste it in the extension settings page.

Step 8: Now, you can find your Messagebird account authorized. In Step 3, enter the Messagebird WhatsApp Channel Namespace incase if you are going to use the WhatsApp channel. You can get your WhatsApp Channel namespace in your mail once the WhatsApp channel is created in the Messagebird or it also same as the Template Namespace ID in your Messagebird. Also, select the default country code and save it.

Application working

1) Send Messagebird messages to Hubspot contacts

Step 1: Click any of the Hubspot contacts. Scroll down the right panel and check for the option "Send Messagebird Message".

Step 2: You can either send messages if you already had a conversation going on within 24 hours window or can initiate a new conversation if it is outside 24 hours window.

Step 3: If you click the Channel conversations, you can view the one-to-one conversations you have made with the client and can send messages from there.

Step 4: If you want to initiate a new conversation, then you have to select the channel and the approved templates and click "Send" for the messages to be sent.

2) Send messages to clients using Hubspot workflow

Step 1: Under "Automation", click the option "Workflows" to create a new workflow.

Step 2: Click "Create Workflow" option to create a new workflow.

Step 3: Create the workflow from the scratch and name your workflow. Click "Next" to proceed further.

Step 4: Set up the trigger or the condition for the workflow to be triggered. Select the condition and "Save" it.

Step 5: Once you have setup all the conditions and filters, Save it.

Step 6: Now, setup the action for the trigger by clicking the "+" symbol.

Step 7: Select "Send Messagebird message" option

Step 8: Enter all the required details like the approved message template, phone field, Messagebird credentials and country code, etc., Once all the values are entered, Save it.

Step 9: Now, click "Review and Publish" to activate the created workflow.

Step 10: Select the condition for the contact enrollment and click "Turn On".

Step 11: Now your new workflow is created and it is active.

3) View the history of messages inside the Hubspot contact

Step 1: Click any of the Hubspot contacts. Click the filter activity inside the contact and select the option "Messagebird Sync by Ulgebra" under the "Integrations".

Step 2: Once done, you can view all the sent and received Twilio messages inside the Hubspot contacts.
