Pre-requisites for app installation

Application Installation

Step 1: Go to the Pipedrive marketplace and search for the application "Clickatell SMS for Pipedrive". Click "Install Now" to install the application.

Step 2: A set of terms and conditions will be displayed. Click Allow and Install to install the app.

Step 3: Now, you can view that the extension is installed successfully.

This is the installation of the application from the marketplace.

Application configuration

Step 1: Go to any of the Pipedrive contacts and click the three dots at the top right to check for the option "Send Clickatell SMS".

Step 2: You will be asked to authorize your Pipedrive account. Click "Authorize Now" to authorize the account.

Step 3: Click the "Continue to the App" to proceed further.

Step 4: Now authorize your Clickatell account by entering your Clickatell API key and click the "Authorize" option. You can use the "Create or Get Here" option to copy your API key.

Steps to get Clickatell API key

You will be redirected to the API integrations page of your Clickatell account if you are already logged in to your Clickatell account.

  • You can create a new API key by using the option " Create One API integration ". Or else, you can use any of the existing API keys to configure the account.

While creating a new API key,

  • Enter the API name

  • Select the Integration type

  • Click on the " Generate API " option

Now, copy the created new API key and paste it in the required space to authorize the Clickatell account. This is the configuration of the application.

Application working

1) Send single message to Pipedrive contacts

Step 1: Go to any of the Pipedrive contacts and click the three dots at the top right to check for the option "Send Clickatell SMS".

[Note: The same feature is available with the Deals and Organizations module.]

Step 2: Select the sender from the drop-down. You can add more contacts by using the "Add recipient" option. Either type your message or select any templates. Click the "Send SMS" option to send the message to the client.

[Note: Add the default country code if the numbers do not contain the country code with it or else the message will be failed. Enter the default country code with the"+" symbol and select any one of the appropriate conditions that suit you.]

Step 3: Now, you will get notified of the status of the sent message.

2) Send bulk messages to Pipedrive contacts

Step 1: Select the number of contacts to whom you want to send bulk messages. Click the three dots at the top right and check for the option "Send Clickatell SMS".

[Note: The same feature is available with the Deals and Organizations module.]

Step 2: Select the sender from the drop-down. You can also pin the sender to make it as default option. The selected contacts will be added and now you can enter the message in the text box. Once entered, hit the "Send SMS" option to send the messages.

[Note: Add the default country code if the numbers do not contain the country code with it or else the messages will be failed.]

Step 3: The other ways to send bulk messages can be found by clicking the "Add Recipients" option.

  • Send bulk messages by selecting filters from the drop-down.

  • Search for contacts and add them to send bulk messages.

  • Enter the number manually and send bulk messages.

[Note: Add default country code if required or else the messages will be failed. Enter the default country code with the"+" symbol and select any one of the appropriate conditions that suit you. You have multiple options for configuring the country code.

  • Do not add Country code - If you have a country code for all your existing records in your CRM, you can select the ignore option.

  • Add for all phone numbers - If all your existing records in your CRM don't have any country code you can select this option which will country code for all your numbers.

  • Add if phone number starts with 0 - In case you have phone numbers in your existing records was saved with 0 (usually applies for abroad numbers) you can select this option.

  • Add if phone number does not start with country code - In case some of your records in CRM don't have any country code in them you can select this option which will add country code only for the numbers which don't have a country code in it and ignore the ones which already have country code in it.

Step 4: Now, you will get notified of the sent messages in Pipedrive.

3) Send Clickatell messages from the extension interface

Step 1: Go to any of the Pipedrive contacts/Organizations/deals and check for the Clickatell Message interface at the left panel from where you can send Clickatell messages to that particular person. Enter the required details like the Sender ID, template and send the message to the client.

4) Add additional Clickatell Senders

Step 1: Go to the Clickatell message interface at the left and click the drop-down "Choose Sender". Now, click the "Add New Sender" option to create a new Sender.

Step 2: Select the channel from the drop-down. Enter the Sender ID and Display name. Once done, save the new sender by clicking the "Save Sender" option.

Step 3: Once saved, you can fetch the new sender from the drop-down to send out messages using the extension.

5) Create and manage templates inside Pipedrive

Step 1: Go to the Clickatell message interface at the left and click the drop-down "Insert Template". Now, click the "Add New Template" option to create a new template.

Step 2: Enter the template name, template message and use emojis if required. You can also insert either the user fields or person fields as merge fields in the message. Once done, use the "Save Template" option to save the template.

6) View the message history inside Pipedrive

Go to any of the Pipedrive contacts/Organizations/deals and view the message history added as notes.

Additional features

Go to the Clickatell Message Interface at the left and click your profile at the top right to view the additional features.

  • View your authorized Pipedrive and Clickatell accounts. You can also re-authorize your accounts.

  • Manage the app usage for users by sharing your credentials.

Click the profile and check for the option "Manage App Users" to grant permission to users to access the extension and send Clickatell messages to clients.

On the admin system:

  • You can add the Pipedrive users who can use your Clickatell account for sending messages.

  • You can able to view the list of all Pipedrive users and you can add them using the "Add' button.

On the user system:

The user while authorizing the Clickatell account, can either use the account shared by their admin or else they can use their own account for sending messages. To configure their own account click on the "Use another account" option.
